Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

Preheat the grill in the oven. Brush the pieces of white bread with butter.

On each slice of bread, place half of the Gruyère, then 3 slices of Parma ham. Make sure the filling does not extend beyond the edges of the bread.

  2. 2

    Step 2

Sprinkle with the remaining Gruyère, salt and pepper to taste.

Cover one slice of bread with another so that the filling is inside. Press firmly.

If you like, trim the crusts, but they make the sandwich crunchier.

  3. 3

    Step 3

Spread the top side of the sandwich with half of the softened butter and sprinkle with half of the grated Parmesan, pressing down firmly.

Place the sandwich under the grill for 2 minutes until golden brown.

  4. 4

    Step 4

Flip the sandwich, spread with the remaining butter, and sprinkle with the remaining parmesan.

Return under the grill for another 2 minutes until golden brown.

  5. 5

    Step 5

Place the sandwich on a plate, cut it into 4 pieces and serve immediately.
