Festive Ham in Marinade

Juicy ham with a fragrant marinade made from orange, spices, and herbs. The meat marinates for several days, then is baked in the oven and coated with a honey-mustard glaze. The result is a dish with a crispy exterior and tender interior — the perfect festive dish.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

Prepare the marinade: add sugar, salt, 2 cinnamon sticks, ground cumin, 10 cloves, dried basil, a whole head of garlic, grated ginger, orange zest and orange juice to 6 liters of water.

Place the ham in the marinade and leave it in a cold place for 3–4 days.

  2. 2

    Step 2

After 3–4 days, remove the ham from the marinade, place it on a baking sheet and wrap it in several layers of foil.

Place in a preheated oven to 160 °C. After 15 minutes, increase the temperature to 180 °C, then after another 10 minutes — to 200 °C. Keep at 200 °C for 3 hours. Gradual temperature increase will ensure even heating of the meat.

  3. 3

    Step 3

After 3 hours of baking, remove the ham from the oven and unwrap the foil.

Mix honey and mustard. Score the top fatty layer in a crosshatch pattern, brush the ham with the honey-mustard mixture and decorate with cloves.

Enable broil mode (or place the meat on the upper rack and open the oven door slightly). Bake until golden brown. Serve hot.
