Step 1
Remove the pits from the cherries. After the first few berries, the process will go faster. The main thing is not to miss a pit, otherwise it will end up in the filling. Let the cherries drain so there is minimal juice. You can use pre-prepared frozen berries.

Step 2
Sift the flour into a bowl. Make a well in the center, crack an egg into it, and pour in water. Mix until you have a uniform dough. The finished dough should not stick to the sides of the bowl. Let it rest for 20 minutes.

Step 3
Mix the cherries with sugar. Adjust the amount of sugar to taste.

Step 4
Divide the dough into several parts and shape them into long rolls. Cut into pieces and roll out each piece with a rolling pin into a circle 5–7 cm in diameter.
- 5
Step 5
Place the filling in the center of each circle and seal the edges carefully. Work with wet hands — this way the dough won't stick.

Step 6
Boil the dumplings in boiling water for 4–5 minutes in a large pot so they don't stick together.

Step 7
Serve varenyky with condensed milk, honey, or sour cream.
